9 imagesA collection of images of nature in Japan taken in the Spring of the Fukushima Nuclear Crisis. The title Nuclear Spring comes from the terms 'nuclear winter', and the title of a seminal book in ecology 'Silent Spring', by Rachel Carson. All photos were taken on Ilford 100Delta black and white film, but scanned on a modern digital scanner, complete with film grain and dust spots; mirroring the technological generations of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, which was built in the 1960's but with little updating. Black and white film was the foundation and core of journalism and art photography for much of the 20th century, and Fukushima was the foundation and core of much of Japan's technological and economic success.
